We were saving Jordan Spieth for the British Open and he didn’t disappoint. It was the 2nd biggest purse of the year and it put it right back in the hunt. We’re sitting in 6th and within 500k of first. That’s 4 win on the year and we still need one more win before the year is over in our opinion.
PLAYERS USED SO FAR: Jordan Spieth, Danny Lee, David Lingmerth, Ollie Schniederjans, Justin Thomas, Louis Oosthuizen, Phil Mickelson, Byeong Hun An, Wes Bryan, Brooks Koepka, Martin Kaymer, Bill Haas, Kevin Chappell, Kevin Kisner, Rory Mcilory, Rickie Fowler, Matt Kuchar, Justin Rose, Henrik Stenson, Sergio Garcia, Adam Scott, Dustin Johnson, Brandt Snedeker, Hideki Matsuyama, Patton Kizzire, Chris Kirk, Jon Rahm.
Now for our pick.
To win at Glen Abbey, you need to be solid off the tee. You need strokes gained tee to green. You need par 5 scoring. You need to make birdies. You need to avoid bogeys. Most of your scoring happens on the par 5’s, as players get two putts for birdies. So even bad putters have a chance, as long as they’re hitting the greens. With little wind this week, that will be much easier. Tony Finau fits all the criteria we’re looking for, plus he has five Top Ten’s this year and his been knocking on the door consistently for a win. Here’s one of the best stops on tour for that to happen for him and with the lack of star power in the field, he just may punch his ticket to Augusta this week.
