Daily Fantasy Golf Picks Strategy | PGA Wyndham Championship 2017 | Draftkings
We’re not a huge fan of this week as it’s one of the worst fields you’ll see for a regular PGA Tour event all year. We will only be playing one lineup and in reality, if it wasn’t for this site, we’d probably be taking the week off. It’s the summer and who wants to be watching golf while you can play real golf? Actually, we’ll be in Chicago watching the Jays play the Cubs at Wrigley Field.
We’re looking for a Strokes Gained Tee to Green player the most this week. Then we’ll follow that up with someone who is a decent scrambler. We want guys in form too. Anyway, here’s our shitty cut and paste preview.
Sedgefield is a 7127 yard, Par 70. Not a long course at all. This course has many uphill and downhill holes, so yardages are deceiving. Also, you don’t have to be the most accurate driver to play well at this course and that’s because of the length. 9 of the 18 holes will probably only require a wedge into the greens, and it’s easier to hit short irons from the rough with some accuracy than with the long irons. This is a very tee to green type course. The average rate in which players hit these small greens are off the charts, at 73% GIR since 2008. That’s pretty high to be the average. These greens are undulating and and the shorter putts you have on these types of greens, the better.
Since 2008, which golfers in this field have played well here? David Toms, Carl Pettersson, Brandt Snedeker, Justin Leonard, Bill Haas, Charles Howell 3, Webb Simpson, Camilo Villegas, Ryan Moore, Martin Laird, Matt Every. What’s the common trait? More than a few times, these guys have been Top 60 in Strokes Gained Tee To Green since 2008.
So to recap: We’re looking for Tee to Green Players, those that can hit short irons from the fairway and the rough. As always, we love great putters, and if you can scramble a little, we’ll take that too. Last but not least, look for history and we’d like our players to have some form.
So here is our one and only team.
Ryan Moore – He’s had a lost year and that is partly to do with injury. He’s getting back into the swing of things and had a great showing at the PGA Championship. Three top 10’s here in 9 tries. and he’s won this thing before.
Chris Stroud – We’ll ride this hot hand right now.
Byeong Hun An – This is the worst field he’ll face on the PGA and he has one of the best Tee to Green games in the field.
Robert Streb – Quietly gaining form and he’s never been worse than 37th here in three tries.
Emiliano Grillo – We wanted a Tee to Green guy and he’s one of the better ones on tour. Hasn’t been the best year, but this isn’t the best field.
Billy Horschel – You have no idea what he can do week to week. It could be good or it could be terrible. We know he can win and that’s something.
