Daily Fantasy Golf Picks Preview | Sentry Tournament Of Champions 2019

It’s January 2019 and Thursday’s are about to mean something again. Let’s all rejoice!! Even though this week is a small field (which I loathe) at least we still have some golf to cheer for, minus the Friday Cut Sweats. Also, we’re gonna have a podcast this year and it may be the shittiest podcast you’ll ever hear. As of right now, I’m trying to edit it and have it up in the next couple of days. So without further adieu, let’s just get to the course.

In 1999, this tournament switched from Carlsbad to Kapalua in Hawaii. It’s been lengthened over the years and is now a Par 73, 7452 yard test of golf. The Bill Coore / Ben Crenshaw design is massive; sprawling over some 700 acres. The features are also big… with super wide fairways, some as much as 80 yards and extremely large and undulating greens. Wind plays a huge part in the defense of this course and past winners have scored from -8 to -30.

So what are we looking for this week? You must be a birdie machine when it comes to this course if you want to keep up with the field. So birdie or better % is at the top of our list when searching our players. Driving the ball doesn’t seem to matter that much at this course, so the second thing we’ll be looking for is Strokes Gained Approach. If you can hit great approach shots and have birdie attempts all throughout the day, it might not matter how well you putt due to the sheer volume of opportunity. Those are the two things we’ll be looking for in a player this week. Obviously we’ll also use course history, but as far as form goes, everyone’s been on a bit of a vacation, so it’s hard to tell where they are at.

If there’s a lot of wind this week, then I’ll start to consider more scrambler types, but as of right now, I’m sticking to the above strategy.

That’s it for this weeks short preview. Good luck to all.
