Daily Fantasy Golf Picks Preview | PGA Wells Fargo Championship 2016
The one tournament of the year that fantasy golf nuts love to drool over. Why? Like so many chicks out there, DFS Golf fans dig the long ball. The Wells Fargo Championship is a long ball paradise. Home of the bombers. Where you suffer no consequences for being wild. Sounds like Spring Break, but for golf nerds. OHHHHH!!!!! AND!!!!! Tiger Woods is playing this week. Can we see a Phil/Tiger final group here? I think it’s possible.
The Quail Hollow course is a 7,442-yard par 72, featuring four par 5’s and four par 3’s. Riveting stuff, I know. Taking advantage of the Par 5’s is a huge key to winning. Also, there have been a lot of players with solid US Open histories that have played well here and you should keep that in mind when selecting players. Total driving is what’s most important in our mind and we’ll be looking hard at the top 60 list when selecting players for the week. Also, please note that Webb Simpson has a terrific record here and that’s because it’s his home course.
It’s rare that you have a course where you can arguably have 6 legit eagle chances, as the Par 5’s are reachable in two and there are two drivable Par 4’s for the very long hitters. Throw in three 200 yard plus Par 3 holes, one being 250 yards, and you can see why long driving or long hitters have chances to score here. It’s no coincidence that Rory Mcilroy, the best driver of the golf ball, wins here.
So in order, we want Total Driving (With a lean on the Longer Drivers), Scrambling, Approaches/GIR from 200 plus yards, and Putting. Also, form does matter, so we will also be looking for players in form and with solid course history.
