Daily Fantasy Golf Picks Preview | PGA Arnold Palmer Invitational 2018

This week is all about Tiger Woods. No one gives a rats ass about anyone in the field. We all want the Tiger win and he’s oh so close to giving us what we want. The crowds are bigger. The roars are louder. It’s time for all us cats to prowl. GO TIGER! And here’s some info about the course.

The course at Bay Hill Golf & Lodge is a 7,419 yards, par 72 test of golf. In 2010, it underwent a redesign, and as well in 2016. They were having an issue with muddy spots and the green was replaced with a new type of bermuda grass a couple of years ago. It’s still bermuda, just a different subtype. From year to year, you’ll see that the average fairways hit are around the 65% mark, and the players in the Top 10, are for the most part, right on that number or better. The biggest anomaly was Tiger Woods, who won, and was ranked almost last in the field in fairways hit for the week, but he was Tiger Woods. When it comes to hitting the greens (GIR), 63% seems to be the average, and again, it’s rare to see a player below that average inside the Top 10.  The rough here is grown thick, so players will club down off the tee to hit the fairways. This means driving distance isn’t the biggest deal this week. Also, these greens are small and firm, so being a very good proximity player will come in handy for making birdies, as well as being a solid scrambler/putter. Most of the scoring, if not all of the scoring, is done on the Par 5’s. The opening three holes on this course are arguably the toughest opening three holes in golf.

We’re looking for course manager types this week that can just get volumes of birdie putts or are just great putters as well.

Good luck to all!
